Does SmarTone-Vodafone have the right to ask me to provide my Hong Kong Identity Card when I join your mobile services? Can I refuse to do so?
According to the guidelines issued by the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data, we can request customers to provide their Hong Kong Identity Card for verification during service activation. We can also make a photocopy of the document for future verification purposes whenever a customer requests changes, or to make inquiries about their account.
