Does sleep training actually work?
Yes, sleep training does work, how well, depends on both the child and you. At 6 months he should be having 2-3 naps a day, for a couple hours each. Although they call it sleep training, the truth is it’s letting them cry themselves to sleep. It is not a mean thing to do, and it does not have ill phycological effects. It is very difficult the first couple of times but it is worth it. He will learn to sleep on his own and it makes bedtime much easier. Mom & dad have to be supportive of it, and make sure ALL bed and nap times are the same. At six months old they have learned real fast how to get your attention.
