Does Shrewsbury fit the Burgess model?

0

I don’t know the answer to the question, but since I note that the Burgess Model is based on work in urban areas in the USA, I wonder if it is likely. The urban areas in the USA are all relatively recent in origin – certainly not more than a couple of hundred years growth. Shrewsbury, by contrast,is at least Anglo Saxon in origin and with a marked medieval influence on its street plan; the river severn too exerts a significant influence on its development. It is also relatively small compared with the US urban areas and has little in the way of manufacturing industry. Bearing all that in mind…what do you think?
