Does ShowShifter need to be running for a timed recording to start?

No, provided your computer is on or in standby mode ShowShifter will automatically start when your timed recording is scheduled. There is a known issue with some video capture cards when Showshifter is minimised during a timed recording. Make sure ShowShifter is not minimised prior to the start of the timed recording. If you use ShowShifter on a laptop with a USB capture device the timed recording does not start. To workaround this problem, leave the laptop and ShowShifter running.
