DOES SHEPPEY WANT A NEW SCHOOL SYSTEM?
Gordon Henderson, who is the local Conservative Prospective Parliamentary Candidate, has promised parents that he will fight any reorganisation of Sheppeys schools that does not lead to a better education for the Islands children. Mr Henderson made the pledge in advance of proposals that will be put out for public consultation by Kent County Council in the near future. Mr Henderson said: Following meetings with senior Kent county councillors and a number of head teachers from Sheppey schools over the past few weeks, I have become increasingly concerned that education officers have already made up their minds that Sheppey should revert to a two tier system. I fear that officers have been unduly influenced by certain local Labour politicians, including our Member of Parliament, Derek Wyatt, who has been campaigning for years to destroy Sheppeys current three tier system.
