Does ShareWISE duplicate anything already in place?
The Indigent Care Consortium (ICC) currently provides medical data support for Austins major healthcare safety net.[2] ICC relies upon an electronic network and proprietary software. A limited group of safety net providers subscribe to the ICCs centralized database. The consortiums purpose is to a) reduce the pressure of indigents on the system by identifying and enrolling eligible indigents in Medicaid or MAP programs and b) by creating a centralized database to reduce inefficiencies due to duplicate records or the unavailability of diagnostic information. Like ICC, ShareWISE is designed to reduce inefficiencies due to unavailable diagnostic records when a patient visits different healthcare providers.
