Does Seven Peaks take money away from other Bend-La Pine District schools?
No. In fact, the Bend-La Pine School District receives additional funds because Seven Peaks has become a contract alternative school. This is because the state allocates funds based on the total number of students enrolled in the district. That total has increased with the addition of Seven Peaks’ students, many of whom came to the school from private or home school environments. The state allocates funds based on each district’s average per pupil net operating expenditures. As a contract school, Seven Peaks receives approximately 80% of the total funding per student for public schools. This public funding covers only a portion of Seven Peaks’ operating expenses, such as rent/lease expenses, salaries, and supplies. Private fundraising covers the remaining balance. 2. Is Seven Peaks building a new school with taxpayer dollars? Seven Peaks is committed to increasing educational choices – not taxes! No public funds are being used to support construction of the new Seven Peaks School. All
