Does service in a combat zone include periods of sickness or leave?
Service in a combat zone includes any period that the military members are absent from duty because of sickness, wounds, or leave. If, as a result of serving in a combat zone, they are missing in action or become prisoners of war, they are considered to be serving in the combat zone as long at they keep that status for military pay purposes.
