Does Ryan regret leaving law enforcement as a career?

(Thanks to Val) Good question. The short answer is not really. He’s still interested in the field even today – likes true crime books and such. He hasn’t lost the interest. However, when he was an explorer in high school, he got involved because he knew a bunch of the deputees and found the work exciting. (Especially in Los Angeles County – there’s quite the adrenalin rush involved in patroling). He seems very satisfied with his chosen career path and is quite fond of the memories of patroling. (His family is also relieved considering they all voiced concern over the possibility of his becoming an official member of the force.
