Does running road races during cross country season violate any rules?
Answer Hannah: Rules which limit competition and seasons of sport and practice etc., or organizations that sponsor events or sports associations seek to protect their events by defining times and amounts of competing and training for a sport. At the Olympic level there are few restrictions regarding what an athlete can do in their sport, but in college, high school and below more and more restrictions apply unique to the system of competition, welfare of the athletes, and not exotic rules. So the answer is that you must ask the organization for whom you wish to run or within which you which to compete to get an answer as to a rule. Whether there is a rule or not, coaches also have their own requirements. I can think of many reasons to limit distance running for younger people and others with special limits which are good sense. There are also rules of coaches designed to protect athletes against over work and strain. I would follow your coach or the group with whom you run to determine
