Does Rougher Surface create more friction?
As a matter of fact no. Surface roughness is not a major factor in friction. Two rough surface in contact tend to require a greater force to slide, this is because protrusions or rough spots may provide microscopic ledges where one surface can rest upon another and apply a normal force. This is not friction. Friction is electromagnetic, not mechanical.
