Does Rod Parsley believe in capital punishment?
Pastor Parsley believes capital punishment is biblical and morally permissible, especially in cases of murder where there is no doubt about the defendant’s guilt. The commandment “Thou shalt not kill,” which is frequently misrepresented as a biblical imperative against capital punishment, is more accurately rendered “Thou shalt not murder.” Murder is defined as the spilling of innocent blood, and government is justified in avenging such heinous actions. Rod Parsley believes capital punishment should be used only in rare instances, because its use precludes any opportunity for the redemptive work of Christ to act in the prisoner’s life.
