Rhode Island has a state grant program and a scholarship program for residents of RI. To apply for a state grant or scholarship, you file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The deadline for applying each year is March 1. Rhode Island also offers alternative loan programs such as the RI Family Education Loan and the CollegeBound Loan.
