Does ResNet offer wireless service?
In the spring of 2005, University Housing IT completed a project to bring ResNet Wireless to the residence hall dining rooms and also the University Apartments Community Center. In summer 2007 we deployed 88 more wireless access points which will provide wireless coverage in nearly all common areas in the residence halls. For details, please visit the ResNet Wireless page. Outside of University Housing, DoIT offers wireless connectivity in many locations on campus. Visit their page for more information.
Laptops, PDA’s, and Tablet PC’s are allowed to use the UWS Wireless Network available in certain locations on campus. Some of those locations include the Rothwell Student Center, the library, and certain “hot spots” located in most buildings. You will need to have a UWS username and password in order to utilize the wireless network on campus. ResNet can assist any student, staff, or faculty member with trying to get their wireless device working with the network. UWS uses the standard 802.11g (which is compatible with 802.11b). Most devices work just fine on the wireless network, but sometimes we come across a few that we just can’t seem to get working. We’ll do our best to help.
