Does replacing a battery on a motherboard change the BIOS on a PC?

Hello there, To find out if your motherboard battery needs to be replaced check the time display at the bottom right of your monitor. Whenever the battery gets weak the time will not display correctly. The motherboard battery is what maintains the time so when it is incorrect you can suspect the battery is about to fail. When you replace the battery the BIOS goes back to it’s default state. You will have to set the time again and check the bios and make any changes needed. Usually no changes need to be made to the bios after a battery change. Most likely what is giving you the floppy disk seek error is that it is set to boot before the hard drive in the bios. Check your bios and move the floppy drive down. You want the hard drive at the top of the boot order. Do a search in “Help and Support” for “changing the boot order” for a step by step procedure on your computer.
