Does renters insurance cover lost jewelry?
Renters insurance is there to guard against loss due to theft or damage (such as from fire, storm, etc.) not if you lost or misplaced an item. Unfortunately, your limit is too low to cover your loss if it was eligible. If it turns out the ring was stolen it could be covered – it depends on your particular insurance company and their restrictions/riders attached to the policy. Not all companies require you to schedule jewelry (some do though and if it wasn’t included it will not be covered) just as long as it eligible, but they will require proof of value and ownership.
