Does removing the cover of the airbox make more power?
It seems to allow the engine to breathe better in the higher rpms, though experience seems to show that it actually slows you down.. However, the stock airbox still is not as effective as a proper CAI setup. It has been shown that the real bottleneck in the system is the resonator box in the fender, and the 90 degree elbow leading to the fender well from the airbox. The bellows connector between the throttle body and the intake manifold does not seem to pose all that much of a restriction on a stock motor, though a smooth tube will provide 1-2 HP.
