Does Redevelopment really eliminate “blight”?
Numerous examples can be offered to demonstrate that a redevelopment area DOES eliminate blight. Locally, the Crowne Plaza Hotel, the Galleria At South Bay and Aviation Park (including the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center) have all benefited from being within a redevelopment area. Statewide, Downtown Monterey and Cannery Row, Old Pasadena, Downtown San Diego, and Downtown San Jose have all been assisted by redevelopment activities.
