Does red wine have more calories then white wine? What drink has least calories?
Generally speaking in a glass of “regular” red wine there are about 5 calories more than white wine. BUT – the question of calories in wine depends more on the alcohol percentage and the types of grapes than the color. Take for example a glass (5 fl oz) of Cabernet Suavignon (10.5% alcohol). There are 122 calories in wine like that. 105 calories come from the alcohol alone! Comparing 4 fl oz glasses, wines like Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc etc. would have around 80-100 calories. But sweeter wines like Muscat or Port can have 160-180 calories in wine. If you drink very little, you can have almost whatever you like. But it is always a good idea to drink alcohol moderately.
