All raw wood coming into Ireland from non-EU countries or Switzerland must have a valid plant passport from the Irish Department of Agriculture and Food (here are the 2008 full guidelines: http://tinyurl.com/6mhrvl). In this document, they recommend you contact Forest Service, which has a website at http://www.agriculture.gov.ie/index.jsp?file=forestry/pages/index.xml. You can also contact the Forest Service by mail: Forest Protection & FRM Section Forest Service Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Kildare Street Dublin 2. By phone or fax: Tel: 01 6072651, Fax: 01 6072545 Or by email: forestprotection@agriculture.gov.ie They should be able to tell you exactly what inspection or treatment is needed for the specific type of wood you are important.
