Does Queen Elizabeth have any real power? Or is she nothing more than a figurehead, like Miss USA?
Actually, I do think that Queen Elizabeth has a lot of real power… in addition to the lists of “official powers” she has, I think the way that the UK supports her, rallies around her, turns out in droves to see her and cheer her on any occasion she sets a toe out in “public” is indicative of it. I can’t think of another Head of State in the entire world that commands so much respect and support as the Queen, nor can I think of another Head of State ANYWHERE who provides such a sense of country to their citizens. Contrast it to the way that most Heads of State are subjected to political opponents or those trying to undermine every action in hopes of ousting the one currently in office….with the way that the citizens of the UK all wish the best for the Queen and the majority of them are all for her continuing on till she dies. I call that REAL power….to command that sort of respect and support from a populace of so many different sorts of people…and to have done so for so many ye
