As pippa said, the braces could push the skin on your face around your mouth out, but this will be so small, nobody will really notice it. If you’re like me and you need the braces to prepare for surgery to correct your underbite, then the braces will make your bite APPEAR to be getting worse, but this is only because your teeth are being moved into their proper position so they’ll be aligned in their proper places for when the surgery is completed. Yes, it will be more pronounced, but this is only temporary. I’ve had braces for about 4 months now. While the gap between my bottom and top front teeth has increased noticeably, my teeth are getting straighter, so I know I’m getting closer to my goal of getting my surgery performed. I remind myself of this whenever I get my braces adjusted, and any bad feelings I have go away.
