Does preschool get children ready for kindergarten?
Your child’s teacher works very hard to help your child make the transition from home to school. Activities are planned that will help to develop independence, enhance motor skills, encourage creative thinking and promote the ability to co-operate with others. Students do learn many skills that will help them to become successful in Kindergarten, but the most important requirement is the social maturity to deal with the challenges children face in their first year of school. It is a large adjustment, and we recommend two years of Preschool to help children be ready to face the challenges with confidence and maturity. Preschool is valuable in this area, as children learn to relate positively to each other and to their teachers, and they learn socially acceptable behavior within a school environment, as well as sharing, turn taking and respecting others. We also focus on fine motor skill development, large motor skill development, and pre reading and math skills.
