Does Prehistory Matter in the 21st Century?
Come hear Professor Richard Leakey, Professor of Anthropology at Stony Brook and Chairman for the Turkana Basin Institute speak about the challenges we face in the 21st Century. The son of archeologists Louis and Mary Leakey, Richard has lived a vibrant life that included work as a Kenyan politician, paleoanthropologist, and conservationist. He is the author of Wildlife Wars: My Battles to Save Kenya’s Elephants (2001). Dr. Leakey joined the Stony Brook University faculty in 2002. The lecture is one of six Inauguration Faculty Lectures. Dr. Leakey’s lecture takes place on Thursday, October 22, at the Staller Center Main Stage from 5:00 to 6:30 pm.
