Does powdered copper burn?

0

Interestingly, copper doesn’t like to form an oxide all that readily, so if you heat powdered copper, it will gradually oxidize, but it isn’t going to burn spectacularly like gunpowder or magnesium or something like that. In fact, if you strongly heat copper oxide mixed with powdered carbon, you will get a more vigorous reaction as the carbon reduces the copper oxide back to metallic coper.
