Does port and starboard change on ferries?
Port and starboard refer to different sides of the boat (left and right, respectively). While this fact never changes, your port and starboard views will be opposite when the boat reverses its course. As an example, stand facing one way and look to both sides. Now, turn 180 degrees around to face the other way and again look to both sides … note that what you saw in both directions is now different than what you saw the first time.
