Does poptropica.com look like a good site for kids?
Poptropica is a massively multiplayer online game and virtual world in which children ages 6 to 15 can travel, play games, compete in head-to-head competition, communicate safely with each other, complete “island missions” and get medallions after completing them. Poptropica was developed by the Family Education Network, a division of Pearson, which also owns kids’ site FunBrain.com. Poptropica has a traffic rank of 2,633 by Alexa Internet. Its official launch date was in September 2007.
Yes, Poptropic looks like a good site for children. All the content on the site seems appropriate for kids. As far as educational, I think it teaches more common education that traditional “book work” education if you know what I mean. But if you are looking for educational games that are fun and educating I would suggest funbrain.com. My child uses this site and it’s great. But Poptropic seems great too. I would let my child play both. Good websites for children are rare these days so if you find one you are lucky.
