PlagScan does provide an Application Programming Interface (API), which allows to integrate its functionality in existing systems (see scheme to the right). Analysis does take place in the background after a document is submitted. When the paper is evaluated, the annotated version is already at hand. That way possible plagiarism can already be considered during the first proof reading and no extra work overhead is produced (e.g the control of whether the software found a correctly cited passage or true plagiarism).
