Does Pete Rose Deserve To Be In Cooperstown After Lying?
Over the past few days, an announcement was made that all baseball fans had assumed was true for the last 14 years. In his new book to be released on Thursday, Pete Rose will admit that, while he was the manager of the Cincinnati Reds, he bet on baseball games. I will be brutally honest right now, and if you dont like my opinion, please state it here. If you are a major league player, it is not a sin to bet on baseball games. BUT, if you bet against your own team to win, you should be tarred and feathered on the pitching mound for all to see. I dont see where Pete Rose betting on the Dodgers-Cardinals game should have any bearing on his ability to participate in Baseball. To date, he has admitted to betting on baseball only. Should this book reveal that he bet against the team he was managing, and it can be proven that this was done, then he should be banned forever from baseball.
