Does Palomar pottery made in Tlaquepaque, Mexico contain lead?

Answer Hi, Vivian, and thank you for your interest in Mexican pottery. It is my belief that any of the Palomar pottery is fired at a high enough temperature that you should have no worry about lead content. The contemporary, brightly colored plates, etc. from Dolores Hidalgo usually carry a hand painted notation on the back that they are for decorative use only, suggesting lead content, but the El Palomar things do not have that and I would (and do) serve food on these pieces without apprehension.

What is your question?
