Only if you get hit. Even then not always. Best thing to do is wear heavy loose clothing to absorb the impact. Take a pair of gloves as well. Shots to the fingers sting really bad. Also, never ever remove your mask when in a game. Most people like to keep their eyes intact.

Not only does it hurt, it can leave scars. I got hit by a professional’s gun on the bicep a few years back whilst leaving a game having been “killed” – my arm went purple and yellow from shoudler to wrist for over a week and I still have a crescent-shaped scar from the impact.
