Does Outlook/Exchange support archives? Who do they work and how big can they be?
Yes. Outlook calls your local archive a Personal Folder and keeps it on your local (or network) space as a single file. Outlook has a 20G file limit that requires that you split your archives into separate files over time. 20G is a lot of space and in normal usage is usually enough. People with an extreme amount of mail will need some help from their DSSL to organize it properly. One benefit of Personal Folders is that you can have multiples of them, not just one big archive. With the right organization of collections of email, you need never hit a file size limit. Also, you don’t have to switch into an “Archive Mode” to see mail that has been moved to a Personal Folder. All of your Personal Folders are available for you in a logical folder and document structure on the left side of your screen.
