Does Oracle plan to build a GIS applications shell?

0

Xavier Lopez Oracle No, we have no plans to build GIS applications shell, we concentrate on business, CRM, ERP, resource and financial applications. Many of these are used in e-government. What we are trying to do is enable these applications with location based capabilities. We can build GIS applications, but just because we can doesnt mean we should. Oracle wants to invest in partners. We are focusing where the market is growing its in the mainstream and thats why we are location-enabling our own applications because that is mainstream. The global GIS software industry is just $2.2 billion.
