Openfiler is a completely standalone software distribution. This means it loads up a complete Operating System and all the requisite software for its functionality at installation time. As management of the Openfiler system is done via a web-based interface, the only software required to administrate an Openfiler system is a recent web-browser such as Firefox 1.0 or Internet Explorer 6.0 with Javascript enabled.
