Does Odum Village (student apartments) have Internet or network access?
Although there are no wired networking ports in Odum Village, Wi-Fi networking is available and is supported by ResNET. See our Connecting to the UNC Network – Getting Started document for detailed setup instructions. Students in Odum may find that the Wi-Fi coverage is not 100%. We guarantee that each apartment will have some coverage, in at least the main room. The bedrooms in the rear corner of the bottom floor may have problems getting a Wi-Fi signal due to the multiple layers of concrete, etc. The simple solution would be to purchase an external USB Wi-Fi adapter, 10′ or longer USB cable and connect it to your computer. Then place the Wi-Fi adapter in the main room where the signal is strong. There is a Cyber Lounge in Odum, apartment 613A, next to the mail boxes. This apartment is wired with ethernet ports and has a CCI Printing Station available to residents. You will need an ethernet cable to connect to the Internet. Access to the apartment is granted by your building key.
