Does OBDCOM work on Commercial / Diesel Trucks?
A vehicle with GVWR over 8500 pounds is considered “commercial” and it does not have to be compatible with OBD2 diagnostics. However, many of these vehicles are compatible anyway, for basic code reading and clearing. You can find the GVWR on the driver’s side door jamb sticker. If it is under 8500, then there is no problem, it will work. A few Dodge diesels were tested so far and were compatible, but a couple ’04s were not 100%. The Ford 6.0 diesel seems to be compatible for basic code reading and clearing, and so are the gasoline ones that have been tested. The 7.3 liter Ford diesel does not appear to be compatible. Almost all other gasoline ‘commercial’ vehicles are compatible. The GM Duramax diesels so far do not appear to be compatible. There is no harm in trying it on a commercial diesel, the features may just be limited. • What about Diesel CARS? OBDCOM works on diesel cars. • Does OBDCOM work with Windows 7 ? YES. • Does OBDCOM work with “CAN” vehicles? Yes OBDCOM supports CAN,
