Does ny1 think that red, black & white is weird for a colour theme for a wedding?
My colors were red & black, I guess white too because my dress was white & black. I carried a bouquet of all red flowers and we painted the foliage black that surrounded the flowers, my bridesmaids were half in red dresses and the other half in black dresses, and their bouwuets were all whit with the black foliage surrounding them. My guys were in black tuxes, with black shirts and red ties and pocket squares. The pictures were amazing because of the vibrant colors.
Black is ok, since it contrasts nicely with the white. Wedding dresses are white to signify the purity of the bride. Red, however, is the opposite of white in purity terms. For example, a respectable lady would not put a red light in her bedroom window. Women who would do that generally live in the “red light area,” and may wear red dresses in order to signify their profession. The red light area is not somewhere that a man of breeding would attempt to pick up a wife. (Well, not his own, anyway!) Therefore, it is questionable whether red is an appropriate colour for a wedding. This is probably why people ask you if you’re joking when you tell them you’re planning to use red in your colour scheme.
