The Federal Ministry of Environment was expected to introduce amendments to the Fisheries Act in 2008. This did not happen. The current Minister (Prentice) has stated that a regulation will be tabled in the Canada Gazette for Public input in December 2009. There has still been no debate on the issue although the Federation of Canadian Municipalities has made representation that if the Federal Government requires secondary treatment for all Municipalities they need some assurance of Federal grants. So at present we don’t know.
