Does non-school or private practice nurse experience count for salary purposes?
Yes, if the non-school or private practice nurse experience was in a RN position and the nurse is currently employed by HISD as a school nurse. HISD grants one year of HISD experience for every two years of non-school based experience. No more than twenty years of total outside experience will be accepted. As a result, the maximum number of years that HISD will credit toward placement on the salary schedule is 10 years Written verification from previous employers is needed prior to granting the experience.
