Does no-one care about slave labour anymore?

We are in The Greatest Depression, so people are worry about their own butts. The media spews all those lies about terrorists and war, so people are being good little dummies and let their worlds be crafted by the manipulation of the media. If the media saw some point in harping about child labor, they would plaster tear jerking stories about the little girls being forced to work in factories for a penny a day to feed their families, and then all people who are gullible and easily controlled would talk of nothing but child labor. The problem is that the corporate “government” loves slave labor, so it is not reported, and therefore off of the mindless masses radar.

You raise a valid point. For many people, though, there’s no way to avoid buying at least some slave-made goods. I avoid shopping at WalMart, and I look at labels. But it’s nearly impossible to find goods that aren’t made in China or India. Even fabric is frequently made in China, if I wanted to start making my own clothes again. Once I do find a source of goods that isn’t made with slave labor, I buy from that source, and let my friends and family know about it. Most of them think I’m kind of nuts on this subject, though, as I was trumpeting about blood diamonds when I first learned about them, and I even gave up chocolate because some of the biggest companies use slave labor. Giving up diamonds was not really a burden to me, as I really don’t care that much about jewelry…but giving up chocolate was hard! Newman’s Own chocolate is supposed to be slave-free, but it’s hard to find. I miss chocolate!
