When they say “no conviction recorded” it only means that it will not show up on any future criminal record checks performed (for employment purposes etc). BUT… any dealing you have with the police (good or bad) is recorded on the Police computer system and stays there forever. So if the Police happen to stop you, and ask you if you’ve “ever been in trouble before” your correct answer would be “yes, 20 years ago I was on a good behaviour bond for ……” That’s the difference. The police will have a record of what happened back then, but nobody else has access to it. Chances are, unless it was a bond for break and enter… and you happen to be stopped by police tonight with breaking tools sneaking around someones house – you should be fine!
