Does Neoprene sometimes cause allergic reactions on skin, like Latex?
A. Neoprene is generally considered to be a skin-safe material and is often found with many products that come in direct contact with human skin , e.g., medical braces, protective gloves, elastic fabrics, colostomy bags, and wetsuits. However, it is possible for a person to be allergic to neoprene and experience a form of contact dermatitis, although, signs reportedly appear when Neoprene rubber is in intimate contact with the skin (e.g. as bandages) over relatively long periods of time. If any signs of an allergic reaction are observed while using the Neoprene bladders, stop use and consult a physician. 3M Medical Tape can be used as an interface between the skin and bladder to eliminate direct contact, if required.
