Does NEB revoke memberships when it receives a Consumer complaint?
Not necessarily. NEB recognizes that complaints do not necessarily indicate unethical or illegal conduct. Therefore, we typically require a legal or regulatory decision that validates the complaint before we revoke membership. However, if we receive repeated complaints about a member, which do not rise to the level of a crime or regulatory enforcement action, but that suggest a failure to adhere to the NEB Ethics Pledge or to comply with the NEB Membership Agreement, we will revoke the membership of that individual. When it comes to protecting consumers, our policy is to err on the side of caution and to remove unethical members sooner rather than later from our membership roster.
