No. Your WHISPERMOWTM lawn tractor comes with a patented mulching system that works to cut your grass into tiny particles before being returned to the lawn as natural fertilizer. The patented deck and blade design not only cuts the grass, it also acts as a vacuum and fan that circulate the clippings back to the blade for additional cutting. The air pressure then forces the chopped clippings downward into the lawn. Fertilizing can be decreased or eliminated since grass clippings contain four percent nitrogen and act like a time-release fertilizer when they are returned regularly to the soil. As a note, grass clippings returned to the soil form organic humus that helps hold water, while keeping the soil loose and aerated. Better for your lawn – better for our environment.
