A. If your home is your primary residence and you have endorsement TWIA 310 or TWIA 320, your policy provides ALE coverage. If you can’t remain in your home because of a windstorm loss, your TWIA policy will pay for staying in a hotel, motel or other temporary shelter. However, payments are limited based upon which endorsement you have on your policy. If the damage does force you to move, be sure to tell your agent and TWIA where you are and how to reach you by phone. Also, you should leave a note at your damaged residence telling the insurance adjuster how to find you. A primary residence is a dwelling occupied by you for more than a total of 180 days in the most recent calendar year or a dwelling that is your principal residence. TWIA does not provide ALE coverage for secondary residences.
