Does my newborn have breathing problems?
Don’t worry hun, it’s totally normal! I know one more person saying it probably won’t stop you worrying… I used to panic too at first, but all babies do it and there is honestly nothing to worry about! It’s like… sometimes you’ll look at them when they’re asleep and it’ll look like they’re not breathing at all and you’re like OH MY GOD HE’S NOT BREATHING! And then they’ll suddenly start to violently pump their chests as you described and you’re like OH MY GOD HE’S HYPERVENTILATING! or something! We mum’s really can’t win lol! But it’s totally natural, as I said, I’m not sure of the reason… perhaps just because their lungs are still adjusting to life in the outside world, but definitely nothing to worry over 🙂 x Edit: Don’t let the other answers worry you. Of course, it is better to be safe than sorry and I’d never tell you not to go to a doctors or ask for second opinions if you felt seriously worried there was a problem.
