Does my computer require KCnets DNS settings?
DNS is the Domain Name Server which translates “easy to remember” domain names into numerical internet (IP) addresses. Without DNS you would not be able to navigate to your favorite sites. For this reason, KCnet is setup to automatically provide your computer with this information each and every time you logon. Computers running Windows 95/NT or higher, do not need to put our DNS settings in the software. Instead you should just select the options that indicate “Server assigned”. With Macs and other operating systems, however, you will need to manually enter the DNS numbers into your network software, (i.e. MacTCP, TCP/IP, etc). This also holds true for most ISDN routers, and other internet appliances.
