Does my Basset Hound conform to the breed standard?

Can’t tell how good her conformation is from pictures, but she is certainly cute. Take her to a local AKC sanctioned match in your area next time there is one (you can get a schedule from the AKC site, breed clubs or check your newspaper events lisitings). Take her AKC registration along and her vet records (she has to be up to date on vaccinations), then enter her in her breed showing. It’s not that hard in local shows, the judge can tell if your dog is good quality and you will see if she likes to be shown. Most judges will even tell you what to do – where to walk the dog – if you mention it is your first time showing her. I did this with one of my dachshunds, and she shows very well, always places best in breed or second at least, but we just do it locally and for fun – she’s got great conformation, likes people and to walk around, but is a holy terror with bigger dogs and will never pass any obedience contests – but it’s fun if you don’t take it too seriously. Good luck.
