Does my base tuition or Tuition Differential directly pay for someone elses waiver in CUPPA?
RA waivers from grants, contracts, and gifts are funded from these sources. Other RA waivers may be funded by a combination of state and institutional funds. GA and TA waivers are usually funded by state funds. State funds represent a combination of GRF and income funds. Income funds do include tuition revenues. Since GRF and income funds are not accounted for separately once they are allocated to CUPPA, but are treated as state dollars, it is arguable whether your particular given dollars of tuition are benefitting just you or also benefitting someone else. The best answer is that tuition collected contributes to meet the financial obligations of each particular graduate program, and is intended to benefit all students in that program.
