Does Microgynon 30 contain androgens or anti-androgens?
Microgynon 30 contains ethinylestradiol and levonorgestrel. These are synthetic versions of the naturally occurring female sex hormones, oestrogen and progesterone. Progestogens differ in their potency (affinity for progesterone receptors) and side-effects. Such side-effects may be androgenic, antiandrogenic, estrogenic, glucocorticoid, or antimineralocorticoid.
